The AI Enablement Gap

Across most organizations, AI tools have been rolled out, but results are inconsistent. A handful of people have become power users, moving fast and finding real value. Many more have hit a plateau, unsure how to advance to the next level. And there's another group quietly struggling, afraid to say they need more support with learning how to use AI effectively.

We have defined this as the AI Enablement Gap, and most organizations are facing some version of it today. Despite everyone's best efforts, AI usage remains inconsistent across the organization, and capability isn't moving forward as expected. The scale of organizations makes it difficult to design training and governance that keeps pace with how quickly the technology is advancing. Additionally, the teams responsible for training others often haven't been trained themselves. Without clear benchmarks and examples of what good looks like, most people are left guessing as to how to figure it out.

That's the problem we solve. We provide the structure, support, and training your leadership team needs to build a real foundation for AI use, so they can stop guessing and start using AI to streamline admin, elevate their leadership, and spend more time coaching. Leaders who successfully complete our productivity course get back 5+ hours a week.

Developing AI-Capable Leaders

Three capabilities, built in order. Leadership foundations come first, because a leader without them can too easily outsource their thinking to AI. AI capability builds on that foundation. And as AI takes on more, the distinctly human capabilities become the ones worth strengthening and protecting.

1

Leadership Capability

Build strong leaders first.

  • Strong decision-making, communication, and team development
  • Strengthening the judgment and critical thinking strong leadership depends on
  • Coaching skills that create high-performing teams
  • Building trust and navigating difficult conversations with confidence
  • Leading through change, conflict, and competing priorities
2

AI Capability

Build AI-capable leaders.

Solidify AI fundamentals first: user-specific context, AI literacy, effective prompting, and clear guardrails for safe, responsible use.

AI for Streamlining Leadership Admin

  • Reducing the repetitive administrative work that fills a leader’s week
  • Reclaiming 5+ hours a week and redirecting it toward coaching and developing people

AI as a Thought Partner

  • Exposing blind spots
  • Sharpening judgment and decision-making
  • Creating strategic roadmaps for new initiatives
3

Human Capability

Strengthen distinctly human capability.

  • Identifying the skills that will matter more as AI advances
  • Emotional intelligence, empathy, and human-centered leadership
  • Discerning what work can appropriately shift to AI and what must remain human
  • Strengthening uniquely human capabilities deliberately, rather than assuming they hold on their own
A particularly valuable dimension explored the evolving role of AI as a tool to strengthen communication. The session reinforced that while AI can enhance efficiency and insight, authentic leadership voice, judgment, and human connection remain irreplaceable. It included hands-on AI practice with real-time support and feedback that I started using right away.

How I Visualize This

The Human-Centered AI Leadership Model

The framework behind the three capabilities above: AI support splits into execution and thought partnership, and both are held together by the judgment, emotional intelligence, and accountability only a leader can bring.

The Human-Centered AI Leadership Model: a leader uses AI support for execution (admin tasks, communication, meeting prep, presentation support, summaries) and thought partnership (difficult conversations, feedback and coaching, conflict resolution, strategy development, decision support), both feeding back into the leader's judgment, emotional intelligence, and accountability, resulting in leadership action and outcomes.

Sara Riedel

Founder / CEO

I'm Sara, founder of The KALA Leadership Collective. I'm a former teacher with a B.A. in Education who helps Life Sciences leaders modernize how they lead by integrating strong leadership fundamentals with practical, real-world AI use.

I'm trained as an educator first. I don't just explain AI, I design structured, hands-on learning environments where leaders apply it in real time.

My focus isn't exposure to tools, it's behavior change and integration. I bring 20+ years of Life Sciences industry experience, including designing corporate training programs for sales, key account managers, and cross-functional leaders.

My approach is research-backed, thoughtfully designed, and grounded in real-world application. I care deeply about building learning that is tangible, relevant, and sustainable.
